Copyediting is a bit of a hybrid service somewhere between light proofreading (something usually reserved for the final stages of writing) and a heavier line edit, which especially for graduate students can cross the ethical grey line between your writing and someone else’s. With this service, I offer the typical checks for grammar, spelling and punctuation as well as consistency of these essential elements of writing, but I also go a step further and suggest changes to the structure and style of your writing. This helps you get your message across more clearly and improve the flow of the text – to your satisfaction and your audience’s.

COntent consultation
Beyond the editorial services provided with my standard copyediting package, I also offer consultation services for academics drafting journal articles, edited volumes, reports or monographs for publication. With this consult, I offer advice on how to improve your argument and the logical structure of the text and assess whether the evidence provided sufficiently supports the core thesis. This way, you get a second set of eyes on the paper before it’s submitted for publication or peer review. Please note that I only offer this service in conjunction with copyediting.
This service is ideal for graduate students and early-career academics preparing articles or monographs for publication. I will not provide consultation on the content of theses and dissertations, as this is the responsibility of the student’s supervisory team.

Plain English is a more direct and simple way of communicating your message and cuts through the jargon-y legalese that no one really like to read.
My Plain English editing service starts at €60.00 per 1,000 words. This is higher than my standard editing packages, as Plain English edits require two rounds of substantive revision. After completing the first run-through, I will send you back your text so you can confirm that the original meaning has been retained, especially where this is important. I will incorporate your feedback in the second round of editing, which includes a final proofread as well.
